Detox: The Freshly Ozonated Man

Here is a good story from pre Covid era written by one of our happy ozone user.

“I spent time in an ozone sauna after drinking ozonated water – it’s the latest heath sensation, the evolution of detoxification.

Ozone is a confusing substance. It can be found high up in the air where its good, and at ground level where its bad. Stratospheric ozone is good because it shields the planet from the Sun’s harmful UV radiation, but at ground level, O3 occurs as a by-product of our own industrial processes and product manufacturing. Down here its bad because it contributes to SMOG and air pollution in general. But how some man-made ozone maybe good – confusing huh?

Ozone is a gas made up of three oxygen atoms (O3). Atmospheric researchers have concluded that there’s at least three billion metric tons of it floating around up in the sky where it’s mostly found at between 10–50 kilometers altitude. Three billion tons may sound like a lot of ozone, but the substance only comprises 0.00006 percent of the total atmosphere.

Ozone occurs naturally in small (trace) amounts in the stratosphere, and to some extent the particles shield Earth from the full effect of our Sun’s ultraviolet (UV) light. Indeed, ozone is created when a regular oxygen molecule, O2, the type we breathe, drifts up to the very top of the sky, and there on the edge of space is split apart by sunlight into single oxygen atoms. Single oxygen atoms can re-join to make O2, or they can join with O2 molecules to make ozone (O3).

This brings us to the reason whereby ozone may have some health benefits for humans – its that third oxygen element. The third oxygen atom can detach from the ozone molecule, and re-attach to molecules of other substances, thereby altering their chemical composition. It’s this ability to react with other substances that forms the basis of ozone proponents’ health claims. Gunk in your body can be broken down or ‘oxidized’ away…

Now most of traditional medicine and a great many environmental scientists have all concluded long ago that ozone is harmful to humans. Although the stuff occurs naturally high up in the stratosphere where it provides a particle shield to protect life on Earth, direct contact with ozone down here on the ground appears to be harmful to both plants and animals. But now modern science is coming around to the idea that it may be useful as a detoxifier.

Detoxification through the skin is as old as the sauna, or the sweat lodge. Humans have been enjoying the benefits of steam rooms for at least two millennia; the Romans built steam baths based on the Greek Tradition. And the reason is because it was pleasurable and because the experience yields undeniable health benefits.

Human skin tissue, the outer covering of a human body is permeable. What most people don’t know is that its by far the largest organ of each human body’s integumentary system. The skin has up to seven layers of ectodermal tissue and guards the underlying muscles, bones, ligaments and internal organs, and it ‘breathes’. If you dwell in toxic regions of the world, or work in toxic environments then your skin will absorb these latent malignancies. Conversely if you frequently enjoy steam bathes or saunas then you can use your skin to detoxify your body. Ozone saunas are just a more modern extension of this age-old personal detoxification solution.

In early December 2016 at the Jaconello Wellness Centre in Toronto I experienced BOEX (Body Ozone Exposure) inside a steam cabinet. As the heat makes you sweat and the toxins pour out of your body. I also dragged my buddy Charles (shown in the photo) with me to experience this and he had the following comments on the experience:

“A relaxing experience. Definitely felt the pores opening up.”

“I felt very clean afterwards. Like I just had a very hot shower, but without any residue from soap.”

“I felt the whole process was similar to the Roman baths in Baden Baden [German town known for its nude communal baths], but with a lot more privacy.”

A normal sauna increases the eliminative, detoxifying and cleansing capacity of the skin by stimulation of the sweat glands and also promotes healthy skin tone and texture due to increased blood circulation.

Introducing ozone into the equation improves the steam, which as it surrounds the body becomes a conduit through which O3 can be introduced into the body through the skin. Humid heat opens the pores, which allows the ozone to pass through the skin into the bloodstream, where it can travel to the fat and lymph tissue.

Preventive medicine places a lot of emphasis on diet and detox and their literature repeatedly stresses the importance of frequent cleanses, especially cleansing the lymph tissue of toxins. It could be argued that the ozone enriched steam sauna is the easiest and best way to accomplish this detox.

The combined action of moist heat and ozone had some cleansing effect cleaned the lymphatic system, which carries 90% of the body’s fluids. Ozone brings oxygen to the tissues for enhanced health and vitality. The combination of steam and ozone is a natural, effective way to promote a refreshing sense of well-being. The staff at the center believe, and I agree with them, that an Ozone Steam Sauna cabinet is a pleasant way to practice body cleansing.

BENEFITS OF OZONE SAUNA

1. Relaxes and loosens muscles by reducing the buildup of lactic acid and increasing muscle flexibility.

2. Oxidizes toxins so they can be eliminated through the skin, lungs, kidneys and colon. Boosts blood circulation, helping injured muscles to repair quicker.

3.Stimulates vasodilatation of peripheral blood vessels relieving pain and speeding the healing process.

4. Eliminates bacterial and viral infections of all kinds.

5. Speeds up the metabolic processes of the inner organs and endocrine glands resulting in a loss of 200-450 calories in a 20 minute session.

A growing number of physicians and patients have expressed enthusiasm for the steam cabinet method for treating a wide variety of health complaints, although more scientific research needs to be done. In addition, standardized protocols need to be developed for this relatively new form of ozone application.”
