Rediscovering a Genius: The Lost Sauna Protocols of Professor von Ardenne

Nearly a century ago, Professor Manfred von Ardenne—a brilliant German physicist, inventor, and medical pioneer—began developing what would become one of the most advanced integrative cancer protocols of his time. His approach was far ahead of its era: a systematic therapy that combined oxygen enrichmentmetabolic stimulationphysical activation, and heat to enhance the body’s natural capacity for healing.

Prof von Ardenne was one of the first to show, through clinical and laboratory research, that oxygen uptake in tissues could be profoundly improved by increasing the arterial–venous oxygen difference—in essence, making the body more efficient at using the oxygen it already receives. His breakthrough became known as Oxygen Multistep Therapy (OMT), a method that not only raised oxygen levels in the blood but also stimulated capillary perfusion, improved mitochondrial energy production, and helped restore normal function in oxygen-deprived cells. OMT was renamed for EWOT therapy in North America as soon as prof von Ardenne’s writings were translated into English and circulated as such in the media ever since.

What set Professor von Ardenne apart wasn’t just that he believed oxygen was important—it was that he understood how profoundly oxygen shortage at the cellular level could alter the course of a disease.

In his clinical work, he documented that reduced oxygen availability in tissue (what he called “oxygen deficiency syndromes”) played a central role in conditions ranging from cardiovascular disease and cancer to immune dysfunction and chronic fatigue. His solution? Not just to supply more oxygen, but to ensure that the body could actually absorb, transport, and utilize it.
